A couple is asking for the removal of signs promoting High Point as "the home of Fantasia Barrino," citing her new autobiography depicts the city negatively.

In her book, "Life is Not a Fairy Tale," Barrino says she couldn't read after attending local schools and writes how her friends used to call High Point, the "Land of the Dead."

The 21-year-old R&B singer was the season three winner of the Fox television show, "American Idol."

According to The Associated Press

"Fantasia hates them but look at the signs saying 'Welcome to High Point, home of Fantasia Barrino," says Sandler.

Council member Latimer Alexander says there are no plans to do away with the signs.
