Nepal's former king Gyanendra has accepted the request to vacate the royal palace and live as a common citizen.
Sitaula quoted the deposed king saying, "I am ready to accept the decision of the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA) and leave the palace within the given time frame."
He said the former king has accepted the decision of the Constituent Assembly to abolish the monarchy and will be leaving the Narayanthiti royal palace in the capital Kathmandu peacefully.
"He had his concern over his new settlement and security and I assured him that the government would inform him by making possible arrangements," Sitaula told reporters after emerging from the meeting.
On May 28, Nepal's Constituent Assembly decided to abolish the monarch and transform the country into a federal democratic republic. It also required the former king to leave the Narayanhity royal palace within 15 days.
