Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons is embroiled in a public divorce, complete with his estranged wife, Dawn, requested the court to open the sealed divorce filing.

Dawn Gibbons has accused the governor of carrying an affair with another woman often seen with Jim Gibbon. The governor denied the accusation and maintained the unnamed woman is just his friend.

Aside from the divorce proceeding itself, the ex-couple's battle over their 23-room mansion has landed in the papers too, with People magazine headlining it "She Won't Move Out!"

Although the Gibbons placed their court battle temporarily on hold Monday as they try to negotiate their domestic situation, the messy, public divorce is seen as likely taking a toll on Gibbons' political future. However, his term does not end until 2010.

On top of his marital woes, the governor also is in the middle of an FBI investigation over allegations he received gifts from a defense contractor when he was still in Congress.
