A laboratory technician was arrested last Sunday after being caught indulging in sexual acts with a 92-year old woman's corpse.

Anthony Merino, 24, was reportedly spotted by a security guard engaging in sexual activity with a body located in the hospital morgue at Holy Name Hospital.

Merino was apprehended by Bergen County officials for the desecration of human remains and, according to and article by the Associated Press, is a charge punishable by up to 10 years of incarceration.

A $400,000 charge for bail was given to Merino, and the accused was required by the state to undergo psychological examination, as reported by Newsday.

Merino, a per diem employee for the Holy Name Hospital for only 14 days upon his arrest, was immediately fired.

The relatives of the old woman were immediately informed of the incident, and of Merino's arrest.
