Pet owners will breathe a sigh of relief come summer when their four-legged loved ones will have the choice not to ride in the cargo hold.

Pet Airways, the first airlines exclusively dedicated to pets, is set to launch its service in five cities, including Los Angeles and New York.

The airline commences flights in July in five cities. "Pawsengers," whether flying for pleasure or health purposes, can expect first class services, such as a climate-controlled cabin, a trained pet attendant during the flight, a special check-in loungers at airports, and an online tracking tool that will let owners check on their furry companions.

A Beech 1900 turbo-prop plane that can carry up to 50 pets will be the mode of transport.

The aircraft's furnishings such as seats have been replaced with a Pet Airways proprietary restraint system that holds pet carriers safely throughout the flight.
