A newspaper typo results in the loss of one woman's possessions.
KMBC-TV in Kansas City, Missouri reports Kris Bryan is blaming a flawed ad run by Lawrence Journal-World for some $4,000 in lost property.
Bryan returned home from work one day to find strangers loading her belongings into their vehicle. When she confronted them they presented her with a classified ad that stated all items at 1319 Tennessee St. Apt. 3, would be thrown-out if unclaimed.
She says, "It was just a real shock. I was freaking out. I told them that's my apartment -- there's been some mistake."
Apparently, the newspaper got the address wrong, by one number. The actual address was 1339 Tennessee St. - the public notice was placed because a woman in that home passed away and no one had claimed her belongings.
The people Bryan confronted returned her things, however, her TV, DVD player, movies, furniture and a 7-week-old kitten had already been taken from her apartment.
Bryan claims the newspaper owes her $3,500 in compensation for the taken items - a price that still cannot replace her kitten.
Bryan says, "Sometimes you can't get away with your mistake, especially when someone gets hurt because of them."
