Instead of using the yellow, blue and white little stacks of play money, a new version of the classic Monopoly game in Britain will feature a Visa-imprinted debit card instead.

Chris Weatherhead, spokesman for Hasbro Inc., said, "we started looking at what Monopoly would look like if we designed it today. We noticed consumers are using debit cards, carrying around cash a lot less."

However, the British may not be the only ones seeing the results of the change.

According to officials at Hasbro, a similar change might be done to American versions of the game.

Even though this new change might startle some Monopoly players, this is not the first time that the game has gone through a revision.

Instead of competing for fictitious property, consumers are able to compete for places inspired by the movies, "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars."

At least one Monopoly devotee seems indifferent about the change in the game.

28 year old Krisi Lee owns 19 versions of the game, including the electronic one on her cellphone.

Even though she wants her daughter to learn how to count the Monopoly paper money before touching real money, Lee admits that she is not a purist when it comes to the game.

Lee said, "that is the here and now. That's what we do. For a $3 purchase, I use my debit card."
