In a bid to reclaim the record for the most snow angels made at one place, more than 8,000 people gathered on the state Capitol grounds in North Dakota on Saturday. The world record created in 2002 by North Dakota was snatched by Michigan in 2006.

Among the participants were people of every age, right from infants to those in their late 90's. Pauline Jaeger said she bounced back 99 years and enjoyed the event. "It's fun," Jaeger, who turned 99 on Saturday told the AP. "I feel just like a kid."

Marilyn Snyder, curator of education for the State Historical Society of North Dakota, said 8,910 people registered for Saturday's event; well above the current record held by Michigan.

At the time, 3,784 snow angels were made by the students of Michigan Technological University in Houghton. The Guinness Book of World Records, however, must still confirm the number.
