A shop in York, England, banned a 2-year-old boy from wearing a hood inside the store. Staff at the Monkton Road Store said Jay Cowper had to take off his jacket because the store has a strict "no hoods" policy. But the boy's grandfather, John Cowper, would not relent and just walked out of the store. It was freezing cold when the grandfather and grandson went to go shopping.

A nine-year-old cat was named U. K. pet slimmer of the year after shedding 2kg, or 4. 4 pounds, on a strict diet and lots of exercise. The cat owner Helen Ebrahim, said Willie used to be so fat because of eating too much back when they were still living in the U. S. However, the cat started shedding some weight when his owner moved to Pembrokeshire, England three years ago.

Marguerite Drucker, an 84-year-old housewife, sent a cashier's check to the city of New York writing, "Dear sir, Please find enclosed check for the poor of the City of New York. The city has been very good to me. "

A former nurse celebrated her silver wedding anniversary for the second time. According to reports, Eileen George first wed in 1952 with husband Patrick. They celebrated their wedding anniversary 25 years later before he died in 1977. Since then, Eileen raised her four children alone in Edmonton, North London, England.

A U. S. military nurse who cared for Saddam Hussein in jail threw light on the softer side of the person deemed responsible for taking the lives of hundreds of people. The nurse said Hussein actually saved bread crusts to feed birds and was a very cooperative person. Master Sgt. Robert Ellis cared for the disgraced leader from January 2004 until August 2005 at Camp Cropper. Ellis said Hussein also watered weeds in a jail garden and drank coffee while smoking cigars to keep his blood pressure down.
