A hospital in the Japanese city of Kumamoto has announced a new plan to alleviate the problem of abandoned babies left by troubled mothers. According to local Japanese media reports on Thursday, the hospital plans to create a box depository on the outside of the building where mothers can drop off their unwanted child. The new installation is being called a "stork's cradle. " The box contains a small hinged door that opens to reveal an incubator where the baby can be safely placed.

A young woman from Vernon, British Columbia, on Wednesday delivered rare twin girls conjoined at the head. The British Columbia Women's Hospital in Vancouver where the babies were born said both the girls as well as their mother are doing fine. A team of 16 doctors and nurses on Wednesday, successfully performed a delicate cesarean operation on Felicia Simms, the 21-year-old mother of the twins who were "wiggly, vigorous and very vocal," according to a hospital spokesperson.

Hospitals in East Lancashire, England have issued a directive ordering all hospital staff not to wear socks with characters like Donald Duck or Homer Simpson or they will face disciplinary action. The Trust, the organization that oversees hospitals in the counties of Burnley, Blackburn and Rossendale counties, issued the order.

Even the nurses couldn't believe it. A Mississippi couple named their newborn son ESPN after the sports network. ESPN Montana Real was born this week at Biloxi Regional Medical Center. ESPN's (pronounced Espen) mother, Leann Real promised her husband if they ever had a son, he would get to pick the name. Rusty Real is an avid sports fan.

Doctors at a small town in Romania are demanding that their nurses wear miniskirts to "make them look more elegant. "According to the report, doctors from the town of Iasi in Romania, have written the National House of Health Insurance to require nurses to wear shorter skirts.
