In London for a G20 Summit on the global economy, President Barack Obama met with Britain's Queen Elizabeth II at the Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.

First Lady Michelle Obama and the Queen's husband, the Duke of Edinburgh joined the private talks, held in the afternoon in London. Lasting about 20 minutes, the talks were held just before the Queen's reception for G20 leaders at the palace.

As a gift, the President gave the Queen an Apple iPod that held footage of the her 2007 visit to the United States.

Earlier that day, Obama held a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and had been asked what things he liked best about Great Britain.

The 47-year-old president had included the Queen in his reply, saying, "I'm very much looking forward to meeting her for the first time later this evening. As you might imagine, Michelle has been really thinking that through because in the imagination of people throughout America, I think what the Queen stands for and her decency and her civility, what she represents, that's very important."

The Queen is the the third longest reigning British monarch and has ruled for more than five decades as the head of state of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms.
