An angry father is urging a major toy retail store to pull a popular toy from its shelf that he claims curses like a sailor when his 6-year-old son takes it out to play. The father, Philip Morton, is worried that his son is picking up the foul language.

"I've had to explain to parents why my son is saying the f-word; it's horrible," he told The Daily News of Jacksonville earlier this week. "It's really a cute little toy; but God forbid, it's not what I want my kid hearing."

The cute little toy is a role playing set, called "Elite Operations Role Play Set: Police," comes with a nightstick and a cop's utility belt. According to the father, when the nightstick is removed from the belt, a prerecorded message blurts something that sounds very close to a curse word.

In an interview with the AP, Morton explained that he had purchased the toy from Toys "R" Us. When he heard the f-word come from his child's toy, he immediately returned it to the store where he received a new set that did not include the infamous four-letter word.

Kathleen Waugh, a spokesperson for the toy store admitted that there had been on other complaint. The retail store tested the recording on the toy following each complaint but found nothing out of place.

Toys "R" Us denies that its toys have been programmed to curse. Nevertheless, Morton remains skeptical.

"I understand they can't check every toy on the shelf," he said. "But if one doesn't say it and one does, maybe someone is playing a game and got in a hurry and forgot about it. Personally, I think they should be held liable."
