The white foam blanketing a road in Ohio turned out to be soap concentrate that had been dumped into the sewer by a hand sanitizer company.

Firefighters went to Camargo Road around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, after a motorist called in and reported a substance coming up from the sewers, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

After determining that the substance was not hazardous, a non-foaming agent was used to clean up the mess.

Kutol Products Co. is allowed to dump some of its extra product into the sewers, but this dump turned out to be too much at one time, firefighters told the Enquirer.

A Madeira firefighter told the Enquirer that the unusual scene looked like a white pillow lying across the highway.

The foam traveled through the sewer system, ending up more than a mile away, where it also puzzled Cincinnati firefighters.

The hand sanitizer company sent some of its employees out to help "clean" up the soap from the road.
