In an enactment of what may sound as a scene from an action film, a man wrestled a wild leopard that entered his house and pinned it for 20 minutes until the park rangers arrived and took the cat away.
The incident happened last week as Arthur Du Mosch, 49, was asleep with his family and a leopard entered through his bedroom window and hopped into his family bed.
According to wildlife experts, leopards usually enter villages only when they become too weak to hunt in the wild. Moreover, they rarely attack humans.
Raviv Shapira, the head of southern district of the Israel Nature and Parks Protection Authority, said it was probably food that lured the leopard to Mosch's house and to his bed referring to the Mosch's pet cat that was also in the bed.
Although Mosch is calling the act of courage just a matter of chance, he admits his kids were excited about it.
"This kind of thing doesn't happen every day," AP quoted Mosch as saying. "I wasn't thinking, I just acted."
The animal was taken to veterinary hospital near Tel Aviv for tests and was expected to be released into the wild.
