The oldest known complete copy of Quran written in 1203, has been auctioned and sold for $2.3 million in London, England on Tuesday.
Christie auction house said the sacred book, which auctioneers believed to be sold at $715,000 fetched at least $2,327,300 when auction ended in London.
Christie added the Quran's final auction price has set an all-time high record in any type of Islamic manuscript ever auctioned.
The last Kufic Quran that has been auctioned, which believed came from North Africa or near east, fetched $1,870,000.
Christie also added that both holy books were offered by the Hispanic Society of America for sale, and both were purchased by trade dealers in London.
The Quran was dated June 1203 (17 Ramadan 599) and was signed by Yahya bin Muhammad ibn 'Umar.
