The $259.9 million jackpot prize for the Powerball lottery has been won and the winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were 43 - 14 - 31 - 51 - 24 with 27 as the Powerball number.
The likely winner of the highest Powerball prize in South Carolina history is from Columbia as the winning ticket was sold at the Murphy USA gas station fronting Wal-Mart on Garners Ferry Road near Interstate 77, according to news reports Thursday.
Lottery officials said the winner, who beat one in more than 195 million odds, has not yet appeared to claim the prize. The winner can get the prize money lump sum for $129 million or the entire amount on installment over 30 years.
The store that sold the winning ticket will get $50,000 as incentive when the winner claims the jackpot prize. The winner can claim the prize in the next six months. Otherwise, the prize is forfeited.
The jackpot prize for the Powerball lottery is reset to $20 million, growing until it is hit.
