Students who have attended a high school prom in Pennsylvania were given commemorative shot glasses, a move that school administrators now say was a poor decision.
Juniors and seniors attending Warwick High School's prom last week were given liquor glasses as a gift. Last year, the girls were given a picture frame and boys were given a money clip, the UPI reported.
The school ordered the glasses from a prom favor Web site.
This year's junior class didn't have a lot of money and the shot glasses fit the budget, Assistant Principal Scott Galen told WGAL-TV of Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Monday.
Galen explained that the principal did sign off on the purchase order, but that the paperwork just said "prom souvenir" and didn't specify that the keepsakes were shot glasses.
"It was a poor choice, poor decision," said Galen. "It's certainly not the message we were trying to send."
