A Cuban soap opera has been causing a stir on the streets of Havana and beyond, causing a controversy for its taboo take on homosexuality. The television show, called The Dark Side of the Moon, follows the life of a married man that 'discovers himself' through a sexual relationship with a friend, and who is rejected by his parents once he is exposed.

In a tale worthy of a soap opera, China has executed a billionaire after he took out a contract to kill a man who was going to expose a previous attempt to murder another man. Yuan Baojing and two other men were executed in Liaoning Province, dying by means of lethal injection shortly after a public trial in Liaoyang City.

American soap operas portray a complete an improbable rosy picture of coma patients' survival and recovery, with potentially emotionally disastrous consequences and misleading notions for viewers. Researchers who tracked storylines with coma patients for over 10-years, identified soap opera patients were far more likely to survive a coma than in real life. Survivors were also more likely to emerge unscathed and unharmed.

Days of our Lives, NBC's popular daytime television series, announced today that it is launching Days of our Lives "Daily Rewards," the first long-term online viewer rewards program for both a daytime drama and a scripted series. The Days of our Lives "Daily Rewards" program, which begins today, is designed to increase fans watching through reward incentives and is managed by My Sony, an interactive customer relationship division within Sony Corporation of America.
