In an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record, more than 2,000 people in China's city of Changsha will take part in a singing marathon this weekend.

The participants plan on singing continuously for 116 hours from Sunday to Friday to smash the current 100-hour record.

The Economic Broadcast of Hunan Province, the activity's organizers, have built an outdoor stage and a transparent house for the round-the-clock performance.

They have also provided advanced electronic equipment for the singers and an alternative electricity supply system is in place in case of a blackout.

Strict rules for this activity have also been set by UK-based Guiness Headquarters. The rules include that every participant must sing an entire song and the same song should not be repeated within two hours.

The headquarters also demanded that intervals between the songs should not exceed 30 seconds and that professionals and notaries should be on hand to supervise.
