The next time you take your dog for a stroll in Toronto, Canada, be careful about the new dog-poop rules. Seeing a sudden rise in the amount of dog poop in the parks, officials are considering whether dog owners should bring their pet poop home for compost rather than throw it in city garbage bins.

According to a recent garbage audit, dog excreta consisted of nearly 27 percent of the garbage thrown into waste bins in city parks. It becomes increasingly difficult in summers when the bins start overflowing emitting fowl smell that makes it difficult for bystanders.

The city officials are hoping to lower the amount of dog poop by next year. Currently city officials estimate there is 2.5 tons of dog waste in Toronto parks each year.
