A Louisiana man is trying to lessen the pain of high oil prices by drilling a well next to his home. Steve Jordan, 52, says the well will reach a depth of 8,500 feet under his house and swimming pool. Supposedly, it will stretch well below the adjacent Calcasieu River.

A 57-year old batsman of a cricket team in Buntingford, Herts, East of England, has continued playing even after suffering a mild attack, it was reported. According to the Mirror, Jim Young complained of chest pain and collapsed to his knees in the middle of a game against a Bishop's Stortfor side. He was playing for Westmill team.

A woman is suing the J. C. Penny Co. following a clash with a legless store mannequin that allegedly left her with a cracked tooth, bleeding scalp and recurring shoulder pain. The lawsuit filed in Orange County Superior Court seeks unspecified damages. Diana Newton, 51, of Westminster in her lawsuit has claimed the incident happened nearly a year ago when she was shopping for a blouse in women's department at company's Westminster Mall store. The only one in her size was on the mannequin, and as a salesclerk was removing the garment, the dummy's arm eventually flew off hitting her head.

The local government of Nayarit province in Mexico has passed a law seeking to protect jilted brides. According to the Terra Noticias Populares, the measure says that grooms who abandon their brides or have a last-minute change of mind, will be arrested by the police.

A lawyer has won a lawsuit against coffee chain, Starbucks, after a hot cup of decaf was spilled on her foot. Alice Griffin, a 42 year old Manhattan attorney, says she was at a Starbucks on Seventh Avenue when the clerk failed to put an insulating sleeve on the cup, then slid the cup across the counter, where it fell on her foot.
