A Modesto California Police Animal Control Officer has arrested a couple for keeping a horse and seven dogs inside their home.

Joe Silva and Nichole Surkala were also accused of endangering a 12-year-old child after officers found the floor covered in animal feces and rotting produce.

The matter came into light after the neighbor's launched a complaint about the fly-infested house. The child had to sleep in a tent to escape the flies.

AP reports that the miniature horse was rented for children's parties, and the produce that littered the dwelling was used to feed the animal. Upon investigation the officers found that the entire house was covered with horse and dog shit and the animals were defecating all over the house.

The condition of the house was so bad that the officers say there was not a single place in the house where they could walk without stepping on the animal feces.
