Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was the victim of a prank call from a Canadian radio comedian posing as the French president.
The Alaskan governor thought she was talking on the phone to President Nicolas Sarkozy during a six-minute radio conversation aired on a Montreal radio station.
But Palin was really talking to Marc Antoine Audette, who was imitating Sarkozy. The comedian is one-half of the "Masked Avengers" radio act, known for prank calling celebrities and heads of state.
Audette, speaking as Sarkozy, said he would like to go hunting with Palin from a helicopter, adding they should not bring Vice President Dick Cheney.
The joke referred to a 2006 incident where Cheney shot and injured a hunting partner while quail hunting in Texas.
A Palin spokesperson said the governor was "mildly amused" by the prank.
