The voting is over in a contest that was held on the Internet to name a panda born at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., the panda was born on July 9 to its mother Mei Xiang.
The panda cub's name? Tai Shan. The name should be familiar to fans of the band Rush, having been the title of a song the band wrote in 1987 and appears on their "Hold Your Fire" album.
In recent weeks, fans of the band ushered a campaign to name the panda after the song's title.
Tai Shan, which means "peaceful mountain" in Chinese, was the clear favorite among the more than 200,000 votes the National Zoo received.
The name drew 88,245 votes or about 44-percent of the 202,045 votes cast worldwide in the zoo's on-line poll.
