Starting April 1, some Welsh hospitals will no longer collect parking fees. Welsh Assembly Government's Health Minister Edwin Hart said National Health Service trusts with existing contracts with private car parking companies must start reducing the parking fees until the agreement lapses. By 2011, only four Welsh hospitals out of 130 will still levy parking charges because of the long-term time frames of their contracts.

A man got locked inside an HSBC bank branch after he entered the still closed establishment, surmising from its unlocked door that it was already open. Jay Whitmarsh, 47, said that when he entered the bank and saw it was empty, he merely thought that the staff had stepped out, and would return in a few minutes. Then suddenly heheard the door slam shut, and the latch lock. He tried opening the door, but had no luck getting free.

With his mother suddenly passing out while cruising at 70 mph along a three lanes of traffic, a nine-year-old boy took over the steering wheels of their car before parking it to safety. Jonathan Anderson said the car lost control and hit the road's central barrier when her mother, Marion blacked out while they were traversing the A38 in Plympton, Devon.

A woman refusing to sell her house to a medical center has found herself living in a home surrounded on three sides by parking lots. Rena Wilkey, 73, said that the layout was not bothering her, as it was the result of her strong decision to hang on to the house she's lived in for 50 years.

A $10,000 reward was announced by a California family for the safe return of their small dog. Louie, the tiny 5-month old Yorkshire terrier puppy was allegedly stolen at a supermarket parking lot, from Pauline Jolly's car.
