Activists Send Panties To Myanmar Embassies To Oust Superstitious Generals From Power

Women peace activists from Thailand, Australia, Singapore, and European countries are sending or delivering their underwear to Myanmar missions. The symbolic act is meant to protest the Myanmar junta's violent crackdown of monks-led rallies in Yangon last month, and to oust the generals ruling the country from power.

Woman Reunites With Husband After Being His Hostage

A Brazilian woman whose husband held her and others hostage at gunpoint for 10 hours has decided to reunite with him. "I forgave him out of love . . . I believe it was an irrational act and that we can resume our life in peace," Brazil's Globo news agency quoted Cristina Ribeiro, 35, as saying on Monday.

New Mexico Inmate Uses Cocoa Butter, Socks For Escape

A New Mexico inmate was successful in escaping from iron restraints using cocoa butter and several pairs of socks, but her idea to use baby powder to blind the officer didn't work well. Anita Rachel Thomas, 20, was able to make only two feet past the officer she threw baby powder on when he grabbed her. According to new release by Dona Ana County sheriff's office, Thomas freed herself from the leg irons and handcuffs when officers were transporting her to court by a van. When the van stopped and the detention officer opened the door, Thomas allegedly threw baby powder at him, hit him in the face and tried to run.

German Youth Unplugs Neighbors "Noisy' Life Support Machine

A teenager who wanted some peace and quiet unplugged his neighbor's life support machine because it was "too noisy". Fredrick Moelner, 17, said he wanted some sleep as he recovered from a car accident. But the respirator device used to keep 76 year old Hermann Berghoff, who occupied the hospital bed next to Moelner, was keeping him from getting any rest.
