Chinese officials are trying to stamp out bad English found on most street signs and other labels in the run-up to the 2008 Olympics. Mistranslated phrases are a common problem throughout China with many street signs and product labels making little sense. "Chinglish" is often a cause of confusion and embarrassment.

The invention of Welshman Howard Stapleton of a device which claims to repel teenagers, has won this year's peace prize at the Ig Nobels - a spoof version of the real Nobel prizes. According to the BBC, the device makes a high-pitched noise that is annoying to teenagers but is inaudible to adults.

A high school biology and earth science teacher has been charged with felony for allegedly creeping into a cemetery vault with two teenage students and taking photos of them handling corpse's bones. Candace Longworth will face a 10 years in prison if convicted. Authorities have charged Longworth with a charge of disturbing and defiling a dead person from a place of burial and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A farm in Wisconsin is home to its third white buffalo - the animal is considered sacred by many American Indian tribes in bringing good luck and peace. Dave Heider told the AP, "We took one look at it and I can't repeat what I thought, but I thought, 'Here we go again. "'
