Romance Novels Tap Into Hospitals For Storylines

Irish physician Dr. Brendan Kelly conducted a tongue-in-cheek study, the findings of which he published in the medical journal Lancet. Dr. Kelly randomly selected 20 medical romance novels and found that majority leaned towards "brilliant, tall, muscular, male doctors with chiselled features, working in emergency medicine" who were "commonly of Mediterranean origin and had personal tragedies in their pasts", according to The Associated Press (AP).

At least 300 live venomous scorpions and spiders were seized by Philippine customs officials when a package from Hong Kong marked "personal clothing" was inspected Tuesday, a report said. The scorpions and spiders, which include deadly tarantulas, were packed in nets, bottles and transparent plastic boxes, which were concealed under clothes, report said.

A senior citizen British couple have the time of their lives every now and then when they check-in at the same Travelodge budget roadside motel for more than 20 years. They say their love for each other never ceases through the years. The couple, David Davidson, 79-year-old, and his wife, Jean, 70-year-old, started to get hooked at the motel when they visited a sick aunt in 1985 and since then, have regularly visited Travelodge.

A group of German builders have obtained funds to begin constructing a pyramid that will serve as a private memorial for "those of all nationalities and religions. " A group, led by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, will build a new pyramid about 10 times as large as the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and will be "the largest structure our civilization has ever built. "
