When it comes to divorce cases, a Spanish court has stated that dogs should not be treated like children with allocated visiting rights.

When this one Spanish man got a separation from his wife, she agreed that he could come over to see Yako, their golden retriever.

However, when she started refusing him to come see the dog, he took her to court for visitation rights.

The court agreed with the man and they even set up visiting hours for him to see the dog.

Unfortunately for him, the provincial court of Barcelona overturned the decision. They stated that it would have set a precedent for pets to be treated like children in divorce cases.

In court papers, obtained by Reuters on Friday, stated, "this sort of litigation is rare, given that common sense and reason dictate that people should not take such cases to court."
