Talk Show Host Dr. Phil developed a soft spot for a cat-hording woman he interviewed during one of his shows. When the Florida woman faced threats of losing her pets Dr. Phil came to the rescue. Kristy Grant, a school teacher from Volusia County, was ordered to get rid of her 200 cats. Her neighbors were complaining that the cats were killing squirrels and birds in the area.

Rescuers are going to carry oxygen masks specially designed for animals. Six fire trucks in Appleton, WI and 13 ambulances will be equipped with masks intended for dogs, cats and other small animals. Donations paid for each of the $49 masks. They come in three sizes. The fire chief was inspired to buy the masks after seeing a picture of a firefighter giving mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a cat. Nearby Madison Fire Department already carries similar masks on its seven ambulances, though they haven't used them yet.

Toy manufacturer Mattel has announced on Wednesday the popular doll Barbie will have a pet dog. A spokesman for the company said the pet dog named Tanner, not only eats, but also does toy poos.

A woman charged a pet cremation service and a photo agency for the unauthorized use of a photo of her with her deceased pet dogs. The lawsuit is filing for $3 million in damages. Gina Cecala filed the case in Manhattan state Supreme Court upon Matthews International and Getty Images.

A judge at the U. S. District Court in Manhattan on Thursday overturned an appeal by a man who had sued the city for entering his apartment without a search warrant, after he was mauled by his own pet tiger. The ruling appeared in public records on Monday. Antonie Yates was arrested on Oct. 4, 2003, at a Philadelphia hospital where he had gone for treatment of a deep bite by his pet tiger. Yates, who also possessed an alligator has been charged with reckless endangerment.
