Incidents of letter carrier being attacked by household pets may not be so rare, but conflict with a squirrel may sound a bit offbeat. Barb Dougherty, a 30-year-old Postal Service employee, said she was attacked and bitten Monday by a squirrel while delivering mail in Oil City, about 75 miles north of Pittsburgh.

A teen who was fishing in Stockport, Manchester caught a deadly piranha. The man-eating fish is normally feared in its natural habitat in South America. Josh Boyle, 14, was at his usual fishing spot when he reeled in the sharp-toothed predator. He then held the fish at arm's length while his friend took a photograph.

A 13-year-old girl has decided to open a guesthouse exclusively for pets. According to reports reaching BBC, Lupe van der Stigchel, has opened the Mini Pet B and B which aims to provide accommodation for rabbits, guinea pigs and gerbils at her home in north Cornwall.

Dogs have been known as man's best friends for decades, and Jamie Hanson's 13-year-old dog, Jesse, has lived up to it. A specially trained golden retriever-German shepherd mix, Jesse, not only rescued her owner from fire but also tried to save the fellow pet, a cat, before dying of asphyxiation. Hanson, who had lost her leg in a car accident three years ago, was sitting in the couch watching television when the cat ran over the back of the couch and jumped onto a table, tipping a candle on it thereby lighting the artificial plants on fire.
