The Philippine government is asking the Filipino people to pray for typhoon to ease the dry-spell the country is experiencing which is being blamed for power shortage and agricultural difficulties.
Typhoon can be a country's worst enemy but in the Philippines, the government is doing their best to experience heavy rains particularly in water sheds. The Arroyo administration has even opted to cloud seeding operations to facilitate rains.
Philippine Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has hired additional planes to be used in cloud seeding operations over agricultural lands and dams Tuesday. The government also rented six planes from private firms costing $38,000 monthly.
According to senior weather forecaster, Nathaniel Cruz, the country needs tropical cyclones and thus, the country needs more rain especially in watersheds and agricultural areas.
If this dry-spell would still persist to happen in the next few months, Philippines will experience a great drought, weathermen said.
