Two Londoners who attempted to extort $100,000 (Ł50,000) from a Royal Family member have been sentenced to five years imprisonment in the first publicized case of "Royal Blackmail" since 1891. BBC said Friday that Ian Strachan and Sean McGuigan were found guilty by the Central Criminal Court of trying to blackmail a member of the Royal Family by making public an eight-hour video of him allegedly taking drugs and performing oral sex on his aide.

Authorities apprehended a man who they said was driving over 200 kilometers an hour while arguing with his wife on his mobile phone. According to officials, the 33-year old driver was apprehended driving his pickup truck early Thursday on the roads of the Perth suburbs.

Heavily-armed robbers posing as policemen stole cash and a service vehicle from a mobile phone distribution company in Quezon City, east of the Philippine capital of Manila on Monday morning during a "raid" against violators of intellectual property rights. Reports say the eight "policemen," wearing bull caps with "Pulis" (police) and "PNP" (Philippine National Police) markings, introduced themselves to the store owner and said they were conducting a "raid" against sellers of fake mobile phones from China.

Technology is displacing the telephone directory from American households. Environmentalists and households, among others, are now questioning the wisdom of printing 2,000 pages of phone numbers hardly touched by consumers who prefer speed dialing features of their mobile units or Internet search engines to find a contact number. A number of apartment buildings in South Boston reported 2008 editions of newly delivered phone books remain untouched in foyers.

An intoxicated man called the police and asked them to arrest him for breaking into a football clubhouse and stealing some alcohol. After trespassing into the Rossendale United FC Clubhouse, 21-year Old Liam Tomlinson apparently urged police to bring him in, only to be told that there were no available police cars to bring him in with.
