Popular Hollywood actor Pierce Brosnan was the first choice of voters in a Muslim province in southern Philippines, having bested all his 'competitors' in a mock election held Tuesday using computerized machines.

The Commission on Elections on Tuesday conducted a mock elections for the August 11 elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, a autonomous province comprised mostly of Muslims in southern Philippines to test-run the new automated poll machines.

Election commissioner Jose Armando Meo said the Irish-born actor "won" the gubernatorial seat with singer Mariah Carey as his vice governor.

Other popular name that "won" seats is Filipino singer Ogie Alcasid who "topped" the regional assembly contest.

Suprisingly, Mexican boxer Eric Morales "beat" national boxing hero Manny Pacquiao in the congressional seat.

Melo said volunteers in the mock election tried the new direct recording electronic voting machines, which uses touch-pad and touch screen technologies.

This will be the first time that an automated machine will be used in a Philippine election, aimed at eliminating if not minimizing the rampant election fraud in the country.

The last presidential elections in 2004 was also marred with allegations of fraud with an alleged tape, the so-called "Hello Garci Tape," surfacing which reportedly recorded a conversation between President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo instructing a high-ranking election officer to pad the election results with at least 1 million votes in favor of her.
