A 26-year-old man recently painted a Huntington bridge pink when he noticed it needed some painting job. But Jason Sansom did not obtain permission before doing the job. All he did was buy paint worth $50, and then began painting the bridge pink without any approval. He chose the pink color in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Authorities in eastern India are trying to boost the morale of residents of crime-ridden Aurangabad by painting the city pink. Officials said Monday they planned to finish the paint job before October 21, the day of Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. Officials say Aurangabad's two million residents are complaining about poor quality of life and depression due to the city's high crime rate. Aurangabad is located in Bihar, one of the poorest states in India, and is plagued with killing, extortion, kidnapping and inter-caste wars.

Prisoners serving time at the Mason County Jail in Texas are forced to wear pink jumpsuits and pink slippers in an effort prevent them from doing crimes again. And county Sheriff Clint Low has also painted the prison in pink. Low told the San Angelo Standard Times that the number of repeat offenders has dropped by at least 70 percent since he introduced the color change.

A 1965 Barbie in Midnight Red fetches a record $17,000 at auction. Collectors from around the world went to the Christie's auction to bid on a private collection of 4,000 Barbie dolls. The Midnight Red doll was only expected to sell for up to $1,100. It is now the most expensive modern plastic doll to sell at an auction in the United Kingdom.
