A 28-year-old man who posted a picture of himself on the Internet that showed him speeding on a motorbike was tracked down by police and given a hefty fine three days later.

The man, who is identified as D.M., took a picture of his speedometer while he was driving his bike on a back road in northern Croatia. He put the picture, which showed that he was driving 100 mph, on the Web site of his local municipality.

The Jutarnji List daily newspaper quoted police as saying, "He was trying to be a hot shot. Guys like this may not know that the police scan the Internet. This is a warning to them not to play games on the road and threaten their own and others people's lives."

The man will also probably receive a second fine. The police discovered his motorcycle was illegally imported from neighboring Slovenia and was not registered.
