Actors filming an armed robbery scene at a convenience store were perhaps a little too convincing.

At least someone must have thought so, because a phone call to the police in North Andover, Massachusetts by a concerned citizen ended in the actors being told to drop their weapons and get down on the ground before they were handcuffed by local law enforcement.

In reality, Haverhill director John Depew was filming an armed robbery scene for the upcoming film "27 Down," and Boston's ABC News affiliate reported that only after tense discussions and assurance from the owner of the store that a movie was being filmed did the police realize their mistake. Also, the actors' guns were plastic.

The store owner reportedly told customers that the filming was taking place and speculated that someone might have called the police as a hoax because it is difficult for passerby's to see inside the store.

The actors were not charged and were released. The film is scheduled to be released in January.
