A 24-year-old Polish man say its perfectly acceptable for women to be groped and grunted at. He attributes the "cultural naughtiness" as normal in Eastern Europe.

A factory worker, Thomasz Stepniowski, was dubbed the Polish Borat by his neighbors.

His antics bears a resemblance to the shenanigans of Kazakhstani TV presenter, Borat, the main character in comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's hit film.

Stepniowski was charged with approaching nine women and fondling their breasts or pinching their bottoms. He did this in addition to making grunting noises.

Upon arrest he told his Russian-born interpreter, "Eastern European society is much more flirtatious. It is based on mutual admiration and is not breaking respect."

He said, "If a person has no aggressive intention usually they can get away with it, even if a female doesn't like it.

He added, "It is not strictly breaking the law and may be cultural naughtiness."

A spokesman for the Polish Embassy furiously denied Stepniowski's claim and said it was against their laws.

"It is not normal behavior," he added.

Stepniowski pleaded guilty to claims of sexually assaulting four women and asked for another five offences to be taken into consideration.
