You'd think they would have learned by now. Hurricane season is just a few weeks away, and a large number of Florida residents said they have not started preparing yet.

A new Mason-Dixon poll finds 46 percent of people polled said they're basically ready now. Twenty-two percent said they would wait until a hurricane watch is issued, and 21 percent said they would wait until a hurricane warning is issued.

The poll also asked if, after the last hurricane season, people have taken any steps to make their home structurally stronger. Only 26 percent said yes; 74 percent said no.

And 75 percent of people polled said they would evacuate if they were ordered to do so by emergency officials. Fifteen percent said they would not, while 10 percent weren't sure.
