A recent poll done by ABC News disclosed some interesting wishes that adults had for Santa Claus this Christmas season. The results showed wishes that would be considered expected and usual, as well as humanitarian wishes such as love and peace. And there were some that were more than a bit unusual, such as teeth.
The survey revealed that ten percent of Americans wished for a new car - a notable 6 percent decrease from the numbers gathered during the 2005 holiday season. Six percent wanted cash, reported the UPI. It ranged from "10 million dollars," "$300,000 wrapped in ribbon," to "financial security" as suggested by a Minneapolis woman who said, "I'd like to have my bills paid off."
For one respondent from Texas, the "one present" rule was bendable, as he declared that what he wanted was "Money, a loan, a new car, a winning lottery ticket, a Bentley." Some women asked for jewelry, while some men wanted such things as "a season ticket for the St. Louis Cardinals," "a voltage detector," and for one, "a beautiful six-foot brunette."
The poll also revealed the more unusual wishes for some, such as "a 6,000-square-foot-tree house," from a man in his 30's, a hammock for one, and for another, a carpet shampoo. One wanted a new husband.
There were also some very notable wishes. One woman from New Jersey revealed, "I'd like to get my husband back but he's gone now. He's deceased." A woman wanted her mother back, and a retiree said, "I wish that my grandchildren would be here." A similar wish went, "Just family. I want to have them around."
An elderly Tennessee woman wanted "company. I am too old for presents." One wanted to get rid of their lung cancer, and one wanted to be able to walk.
