Montgomery, Alabama (AHN)- Alysha Cosby announces her own name and walks across the stage at the close her school's graduation ceremony, after being prohibited because of her pregnancy.

Cosby's sabotage prompted cheers and applause by her fellow students, as well as her aunt and mother in attendance, who were escorted out of the church by police as Cosby walked back to her seat.

Sheila Cosby says, "I can't believe something like this is happening in 2005. My daughter has been through a lot and I am proud of her. She deserved to walk, and she did."

St. Jude Educational Institute told Cosby she could not longer attend school, citing safety concerns.

Her name was not listed on the ceremony's program.

Her diploma was delivered to her home earlier, but Cosby says she wanted to participate anyway explaining, "I worked hard throughout high school and I wanted to walk with my class."
