Anna Plumstead didn't know that her attic in Wiscasset,Me. held a very priceless treasure: A rare early copy of the Declaration of Independence delivered to her town in 1776 as part of a campaign to spread the message of independence throughout the original 13 coloniesThe copy, printed in Salem Massachusetts in 1776, was discovered after Plumstead died in 1994. The document changed hands through a series of auctions after finally ending up with a private collector from Virginia who paid $475,000 for it in 2001.

Volunteer workers at the Daley Plaza bolted down a Baby Jesus in the store's Nativity Scene, with the hopes of keeping the display's main object from being stolen. The infant was secured to its spot with cable wrapped around its waist, and its body was then bolted to the floor of the manger.

A girl in Sydney, Australia who police officials allege died of starvation a few weeks ago was finally given private funeral services in a small chapel on Friday but her funeral attracted only six mourners. Apparently, not a single member of 7-year-old Shellay Ward's immediate family was around during the mass, which was arranged by her paternal relatives.

Egyptian security forces arrested a man who committed acts of fraud against at least 900 Egyptians and took over 120 million Egyptian pounds ($22 million) from them, after being on the run for weeks. The accused was arrested in a 2 star hotel in downtown Cairo, were had been hiding for two days. Abdullah Kamel Mohamed, 50 years-old, sold the apartments in his residential building in Giza to over 900 people and took the 120 million pounds from them after having given them false and illegal contracts.

A 73-year old woman rammed her car straight through Tina's Hair Pro's window Wednesday, according to police officials of Soldotna, Alaska. Driver Della Miller explained she lost control of her 2006 GMC Envoy while driving through snow-covered pavement and crashed into the front window of the salon she was heading to for a hair appointment. The collision resulted in two broken plate-glass windows, damaged walls and the salon's stone-work front, and some broken heating pipes.
