Romance Novels Tap Into Hospitals For Storylines

Irish physician Dr. Brendan Kelly conducted a tongue-in-cheek study, the findings of which he published in the medical journal Lancet. Dr. Kelly randomly selected 20 medical romance novels and found that majority leaned towards "brilliant, tall, muscular, male doctors with chiselled features, working in emergency medicine" who were "commonly of Mediterranean origin and had personal tragedies in their pasts", according to The Associated Press (AP).

Vienna To Host World's First "Divorce Fair"

Vienna is slated to host what is considered to be the world's first "divorce fair' on October 27-28, with couples who want to opt out of their marriages able to meet with lawyers, consult with experts, and tackle how to best end their respective relationships. So far, some 20 exhibitors, including lawyers, mediators, life-crisis experts, private detective firms, and DNA laboratory representatives offering paternity tests have all signed up for the two-day event.

Google Sponsors $30 Million Moon Contest

Google said Thursday it will give $30 million to the first company that can land a rover on the moon and transmit a gigabyte of data. The contest is a joint offer of the Internet giant and the X Prize Foundation. The contest has a 2014 deadline. To earn at least $20 million, a company must meet contest requirements by 2012. Google also provides a $5 million prize for second place and $5 million for the team the goes beyond what is expected of them.

A group of German builders have obtained funds to begin constructing a pyramid that will serve as a private memorial for "those of all nationalities and religions. " A group, led by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, will build a new pyramid about 10 times as large as the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and will be "the largest structure our civilization has ever built. "

Space Hotel Offering 3-Day Stay For $4 Million

The first planned hotel in space set to open in 2012 is offering the most expensive room accommodation in the galaxy at $4 million for a three-night stay, the news. com. au reported on Friday. The accommodation package at the Galactic Suite includes the flight to the hotel, an 80-minute orbit around Earth, the sight of 15 sunrises per day and eight weeks of intensive preflight training at a space camp on a tropical island.
