On Friday night, Preston Henn, owner of the popular South-Florida based Swap Shop, was tasered and arrested after tackling a Broward County Sheriff Office command staff member.
Police were called to The Swap Shop after receiving several civil disturbance calls involving Henn, who was trying to get a vendor to leave the premises. When police tried to calm Henn down, he walked into his office and locked himself in. Twenty minutes later, Henn walked out and knocked over BSO District Chief George Jarboe.
That's when a deputy used a stun gun to subdue Henn. Wife, Betty Henn, said her husband fell, banging his head on the tile floor.
''It was an accident,'' she told the Miami Herald. "He was very emotional.''
Henn was being treated at Plantation General Hospital late Friday night and was later escorted form the hospital by police. It is not clear where he was taken.
William Scherer, Henn's attorney, says his client may have acted violently due to an adverse reaction to medication he is currently taking.
Scherer said Henn seemed disoriented when he spoke on the phone with him Friday night.
''Something is going on here for which he needs treatment,'' Scherer said. "It was bizarre behavior.''
The Swap Shop is an 88 acre expanse that includes a circus, a flea market that sees about 12 million shoppers a year, and South Florida's only drive-in movie theater.
