An 81-year-old woman in the Welsh town of Abergavenny has probably become the oldest woman ever to be sentenced to eight months in prison for threatening to kill her neighbor's dog and also using witch craft on them. While handling the sentence to Dorothy Evans for abusive behavior toward neighbors, Judge Roderick Denyer said Tuesday that he would have given her a longer sentence but did not do so because of her advanced age.

After a year-long, $253,000 makeover, a brothel in Pompeii was open to the public again Thursday, although not for its original purpose. The Lupanare, which comes from the Latin word "lupa," or prostitute, is part of a tour of the city's ruins. In the past year, the Lupanare's frescoes were restored and repairs were made to its structure. The ground floor of one building featured different sex scenes on every door, and the upper floor, which was for more prestigious clients, had names engraved on its doors. Experts say the pictures may have indicated each prostitute's specialty and the names may have been those of the prostitutes and their clients.

The lascivious exploits of ancient Pompeii's citizens are nearly unrivaled in history. This Thursday, a piece of that history in the form of a 2,000-year-old brothel elaborately decorated with erotic images was reopened to the public after an extensive restoration project. The brothel, called the Lupanare, derived from the Latin word "lupa," or "prostitute," required a year long restoration project costing over $250,000. The money was spent to restore the structure of the brothel and to clean and rework many of its erotic frescoes.

A prostitute helps nab a policeman who forced her to have sex with him by stealing his badge. When officer Michael LoPriore called her to get his badge back, the FBI was listening in on the call. LoPriore, 37, was charged with depriving the woman of her rights by using his position to force her to perform sex acts in his car.
