After receiving complaints, an elderly woman was ordered by police to take down her garden gate sign. About 30 years ago, the woman's late husband put up the sign, "Our dogs are fed on Jehovah's Witnesses" after getting a phone call from the group on Christmas Day.

An unidentified man was recorded by a surveillance camera while stealing and stuffing a pricey puppet down his pants. Police would need to rely on the public to help identify the man in the video. The man in the video is dressed in a sleeveless black undershirt and blue shorts. He walked into the store and then approached a worker who was putting the puppy back in the holding bin.

A woman accused of hitting a dog breeder 30 times in the head with a dead puppy has been charged with two misdemeanors but was reimbursed for the $100 puppy. Lisa Lynn Hopfer, 33, was told by a veterinarian that her newly purchased Chihuahua puppy was only four weeks old and too young to be away from its mother. Before she could return the puppy it died.

To add to the fear of bears in the Chuckey area, a black bear made its way into the home of Rela Foshie following the scent of dog food. According to Foshie the bear visited back porch of her home, about 10 miles northeast of Greeneville, and made his way into the hallway through the back door.
