Piscataway police discover a three foot alligator as they make the rounds to help people from their homes in flooded portions of the town which has seen over a foot of rain in the last ten-days. "It's not normal to find an alligator around here," Lt. George Maurer tells the Associated Press. "I know we've had a lot of rain but come on!. "

Mardi Gras organizers are vowing to hold the city's signature most celebrated party in February, despite two devastating hurricanes. Tourism officials and parade hosts appeared before the City Council to demand the annual pre-Lent celebration returns to the city this winter.

Modjadji VI, the South African queen believed to make rain, has died in hospital, just two years after being crowned. Makobo Modjadji was a descendant from a line of rain queens dating back at least 200 years, and the youngest ever to head southern Africa's only female dynasty ruling the Balobedu people in the country's northern Limpopo province.

The Ottawa Citizen reports the Canadian postal service has threatened to stop delivering mail to the home of Christine Charbonneau because her doorstep is higher than the maximum limit specified by building codes. When Charbonneau stepped outside to check her mail last Friday, she discovered a carrier measuring her front door step. He then informed her the step was too high; a comment she dismissed as ridiculous.
