Police have arrested a woman after finding a frying pan coated with remnants of ground beef and rat poison in her trash. The 55-year-old woman allegedly cooked up poisonous was meatballs and fed it to a neighbor's dog because she didn't like its barking. Police reportedly charged Charmaine Twarozek on Friday for poisoning a dog and cruelty to animals, misdemeanors, police said.

A 43-year-old woman was arrested Friday for attempting to poison her sister and her sister's boyfriend with sandwiches laced with poison, police say. The woman's live-in sister called police and said she had found rat poison in her sandwich and in her boyfriend's sandwich. She said it wasn't the first time she found poison pellets in a sandwich, either.

A Scottish island with a population of just 15 residents has placed an ad to recruit two new families to take up residency there. The loneliest schoolgirl in Britain, nine-year-old Caroline MacKinnon, hopes a family with children will be chosen, as being the sole student in the island of Canna's schoolhouse is not much fun.

Paula Young, the director of Mount Vernon's animal shelter, put out a classified add for "Twin Rat Terrorists; 11 months, adorable, full of fun. " The unlikely description of the 8- to 12-pound, white-butterscotch-and-black short-haired terriers named Jack, Jackie, Milo and Dino, may not seem like a good idea if you want to find a home for the dogs, but so far almost a hundred people have called to ask about the animals.
