After a four-year struggle to get a European Union visa, an Egyptian man had a nervous break-down at the Cairo airport and tore apart his passport, minutes before boarding a plan to Milan, Italy. The debacle ended the young man's hope of entering Europe.

Other travelers noticed the young man talking to himself vaguely and then storming off into a breakdown, which caused him to tear his passport apart. The fresh Humanity Studies graduate had gone through a long and hard process to get the visa.

He was later interrogated by the Cairo airport security forces, which said that he is in need of therapy.

It is often difficult for middle class Egyptian youths to obtain visas to foreign countries. The procedures demand many financial guarantees, especially for European Union nations and the United States however, that doesn't stop many people from trying.

Immigration to the west is a dream of many Egyptian and Arab youth for what they perceive as a better life.
