A group of Filipino mothers are hoping to set a new record for mass breastfeeding.

Gulf News reports the mothers' bid to get into the Guinness Book of Records will be held at a Manilla sports stadium.

Currently, Berkely City in California holds the record with 1,130 women who breastfed their babies together in 2002.

The Filipino attempt is part of a nationwide campaign in the country to encourage more mothers there to breastfeed their babies.

Carrie Villamor, information officer of the Children for Breastfeeding Inc., says, "Many Filipino mothers have given us their commitment to join the project at the San Andres sports complex in Manila on May 4."
